Community Peace Officers – Town of Innisfail

The Town of Innisfail Community Peace Officers are provincially appointed enforcement officials responsible for upholding municipal legislation and select provincial statutes. Their role is to promote public safety, community standards, and voluntary compliance with local bylaws.

Enforcement Authority

Our Peace Officers are authorized to investigate and enforce all municipal bylaws. Additionally, they may enforce several commonly applicable provincial laws, including:

  • Traffic Safety Act
  • Liquor, Gaming and Cannabis Control Act
  • Animal Protection Act
  • Stray Animals Act
  • Dangerous Dogs Act
  • Trespass to Premises Act
  • Petty Trespass Act
  • Provincial Offences Procedures Act

Compliance Approach

While enforcement is within their authority, the Town of Innisfail prioritizes voluntary compliance. Peace Officers work collaboratively with residents to resolve issues before resorting to formal enforcement actions such as issuing tickets or pursuing legal remedies.
